Neighborhood of Women is BEYOND thrilled to invite all women to join our new book club!  We will be choosing a new book each month featuring female authors from around the world.  These books will encourage personal development, listening to other perspectives and gaining empathy and compassion for our neighbors.  Come join other women who wish to find more hope, joy, and love in their lives.  All are welcome!  

This book club is for all women no matter their socioeconomic status.  We want you here as you are.  Our suggested retail is $15 per month but pay what you feel lead to pay.  There are several level options to choose from.

September 2021 Book – When the Emperor was Divine by Julie Otsuka

This month, we are diving into a book about the Japanese internment camps in the United States during World War II.  Although this book is short, it will sit with you a long time afterwards as you process what has been written.  There is so much to uncover here.  May our hearts grow in compassion and empathy as we look at the mistakes of our pasts and the long lasting impacts they have on all involved.

August 2021 Book – Cult, A Love Story by Alexandra Amor

My lovely neighbors, this book gives you the love and empathy for those who have fallen into abuse.  It gives you insight that can only come from someone who lived it.  Alexandra provides such a clear and loving perspective on the intricacies around cults.  Open your hearts to hearing her story.  It is moving.

July 2021 Book – The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

This book is packed with so much wisdom!  This month will keep you on your feet as we learn from the research and framework of Gretchen.  During a span of a year, Gretchen chose to focus on happiness and research each month areas in attempts to increase her happiness levels.  I hope you all enjoy her wisdom along with her wit just as I have!

June 2021 Book – Girls of Riyadh by Rajaa Alsanea and Marilyn Booth

My friends, this book opens a door into a world many of us have never experienced, and yet, the humanity in this book is one that resonates deeply with our own hearts.  Join us this month, reading this fictional book about the elite class in Saudi Arabia, written by Rajaa Alsanea and translated by Marilyn Booth.  We have more in common than sets us apart.

May 2021 Book – Becoming by Michelle Obama

This book could not have come at a better time.  Michelle weaves her story from childhood and beyond.  My friends, no matter where you are on the political spectrum, this book speaks to the soul and allows you insight into many lives and worlds that may not look like where you are from.  Michelle’s vulnerability is so very refreshing.  Join us as we dive into the life of Michelle Obama!
